Meeting the President

Tapescript 5: Checking the schedule
Maria:  I just want to get prepared for this Sunday afternoon.  Now, tell me what I have
  to do  then.
Secretary:  Well, you’re welcoming an honorable guest at our company in Chiang Mai.
Maria:   Who’s visiting our company?  What’s his name?
Secretary:  Mmm., he’s Mr Warden, one of our customers in Chiang Mai.
Maria:  Ah, I see.  I remember that.
Secretary:  Yes, you’re having tea and coffee here with him and all the heads of
departments  at 4 p.m.  And a folk band is playing the music at the     company’s lounge.
Maria:  Am I going to show him around the factory?
Secretary:   No, no.  The head of public relations is showing him round for about one hour, from half past four to half past five.
Maria:  Then, where are we going next?
Secretary:  You’re taking him to the airport and seeing him off to the States.
Maria:  That’s great.  So, I should prepare everything to be ready, too because I’m leaving for Bangkok that evening.
Secretary:  Yes, that will save the time.
Maria:  You’re just great.  I love to work with you, Ann.

Tapescript 6: Trends in Sales
Short Talk:  Let me show you this table.  The table shows the sales of our products in this year and trends in the next two years.  As you can see, up to now the figure of direct sales has gone up steadily from last year ….well …..to US$137,500.  It is expected that the number will rise by 10% next year, …err….because we’re going to increase the number of salesmen.  This means the trend in direct sales towards next year will rise by US$13,750 from 137,500 to 151,250.  And it will remain stable in the year after next year, since we will heavily promote e-commerce.
Well,…let’s have a look at e-commerce.  E-commerce will be promoted significantly.  The figure of sales will, therefore, increase dramatically by one hundred per cent according to the rising number of the Internet users and our promotion.  Please have a look at the column for this year.  The sales are US$7,500.  The number next year will increase sharply to 15,000  and dramatically to 30,000 the year after next year.
Next, I’d like to show you the figures of outlet sales.  The trend towards two years ahead from now will go up slightly, very little. . . . I mean.  It will rise to US$16,500.  This will be resulted from that the company won’t spend money opening outlets anymore.  However, by the end of next year, outlet sales will decrease gradually by 5% from this year US$15,000 to 14,250.  ……
